Meet The Teachers

Zhao Lao Shi
My name is Zhao Ning, the guest teacher from China to teach your children. You can call me “Zhao
Lao Shi” (Miss Zhao). It’s a great pleasure for me having an opportunity here to help your children learn about Chinese language and culture.

I come from Kunming, China. My hometown is called the “Spring City”, which is famous for its springs and many beautiful scenic spots. It is also a city with good historical and cultural atmosphere. There are four people in my family. They are my father, my two elder sisters and me. My father is a worker. One of my sisters is a clerk and the other is a business woman. We are a happy family.

I’ve been an elementary school English teacher for 5 years. I hold a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature issued by Yunnan Institute of Nationalities. I received a Certification in Teaching Secondary Language at the University of Nottingham, England.

Now let me introduce some reasons to learn Chinese. Chinese is a fascinating language to study. The spoken Chinese has a simple structure, and it uses tones to give different meanings to a sound. The character writing is interesting, having a unique picture writing system, which provides visual comprehension. What’s more, since Chinese is widely used all over the world, such as in exporting and importing businesses, the mastery of this language may help your children to know the world better and earn future benefits.

As for my personality, I love children and care about students, enjoy teaching and strive to move forward. I am considered to be enthusiastic, dedicated and responsible regarding the classes. When dealing with my students, I am extremely patient.

I hope that your children can enjoy learning Chinese, through my use of a variety of teaching methods including songs, chants, dances and games. Please understand that support from you, my students’ parents, is really necessary and important to me. Let’s try for adequate mutual communication all the time. I’m so excited to be here teaching Chinese and I believe we’ll have a very wonderful school year!
I truly hope the students play well and have fun in the ocean of Chinese! If you have any suggestion, advice or requirement, please keep in touch with me.

Mrs. Christensen
Welcome to Kindergarten!

This is a wonderful time to learn the fundamental skills to build the foundation of our life and future.

I am excited to be the English language part of the Chinese Immersion Program.

I am often reminded of many things as I watch the kindergarten children:

1. Learning and doing things many times in many ways helps me remember.
2. It is really nice when it is time to go and someone is there to pick me up.
3. Reading time together inside and outside the classroom is a key to success.
4. Doing homework links school and home.
5. Saying "I Love You" can be said in many different languages.
6. A cool drink of water is so nice on a hot day.
7. Recess is a favorite time of our school day.
8. It is okay to make a mistake if we fix it and learn from it while we are learning.
9. The volunteer helpers in our classroom are very important.
